Should I buy a pair of Dansko clogs or Sanita clogs is the question that confused consumers have been asking for the last year and a half. There has been a lot of misinformation as to why there are two companies and why the clogs look the same. This information should clarify all confusion and help you make a better decision the next time you wonder should I buy a pair of Dansko clogs or Sanita clogs?

For over 17 years Sanita manufactured all of the Dansko stapled clogs collection in which the Dansko Professional clogs are a part. In August of 2007 Dansko and Sanita ended the long term partnership they had together and went there separate ways. This led to Sanita starting to distribute the same manufactured clogs in the US under their own name.

Shoes from the Dansko Stapled Clogs Collection that have been purchased before 2008 have engraved on bottom of the sole the patent 0060240. This patented construction number indicates that those Dansko clogs were actually made by Sanita. A many years ago Sanita not only had the patent number but the name Sanita was stamped on the bottom of the sole.

The same Dansko products purchased after 2008 will no longer have the patent number engraved on them. Dansko clogs have been re-designed and are being made around the world by various manufactures. You can feel the difference when you put them on from the original Sanita clogs use to feel. Although Dansko clogs look almost identical to the Sanita clogs the new Dansko clogs are curved up in the back of the heel and are also have a wider heel. Based on the information printed in the Dansko printed catalog they “have introduced structural innovations to enhance the performance of these clogs; improved lateral stability, better shock absorption, more secure heel strike and improved aesthetics”
